When MLK is set in bronze,
A statue standing tall,
The things he said and did
Will surely live beyond us all.
The pyramids, a Maltese cross,
And now a face on Mars,
Uranium in France
And men in deserts from the stars,
The Parthenon, the fields of Mons,
The Eiffel Tower too
To history are gems.
But what do these things mean to you?
His life was spent so preciously,
And we still haven't learned.
And while each day he fades away,
The earth, one time, is turned.
