One Last Candle

No springtime sunshine

Warms me more.

No mystic minstrel paramour

Could lay light brighter

in my heart,

Since light of love,

your love

shone there.

Touch me now,

My sainted maiden,

Heavy now

With beauty laden.

Hold to this,

a vow or kiss

To seal the pact

without compare.

Once I held a shadowed soul

And pains that nothing could console,

But you have drawn my course anew,

And glee relieves my sullen blue.

Take my hand

and

Draw me near.

Hold me closely here,

My dear.

And I shall never slip away,

but strain to meet your eyes

and say

That nothing, no one ever meant

a thing but

shadows to your light.

All shadows cast

upon my past

Now fade and feign

before your sight.

Oh, just hold one last candle, dear,

a beacon showing me the shore,

With metered lines

and words in time,

Your hand in mine,

A candle now.

For blessed am I

To hold you nigh,

And gifted too

in loving you.

Let us lay this solemn night,

Embraced within the candle light,

And say I may,

Wild as you lay,

Request the touch.

I don't ask much.

Just touch me and I'll love you.
