"Take your time, for we are young,"
He said with double-cunning tongue.
"My dear, for we have many years
And death is but a distant fear."
Then smiling, she, with grace replied
And added to his words, "Besides,
We two are in our years of spring
And if we were to taint this thing
Of love we have in white embossed,
A greater beauty then were lost."
"So true," said he with lustful greed
In words designed to glut his need.
"And we so young," he next proposed
With nasty wit and conscience closed,
"In failing chaste would foolish be
For life, in youth, is fun and free."
And still agreeing, then she said,
"And then there is my maidenhead,
Which still retained when wedded, we
Will light the others' jealousy."
"Agreed!" said he with lightning speed.
"Besides, in youth, what should we need
With walls such as commitments build,
Or cages that our love would guild?
For freedom is a precious thing
With oh, so many birds in spring."
Then watched her eyebrow drop, and smiled
Did he to see her thoughts beguiled.
